1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using Task Chat ("the Service"), you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.

Task Chat is provided by the project maintainers ("we," "us," or "our").

2. Description of Service

Task Chat is a web-based application that enables you to:

  • Interact with your Todoist tasks through natural language conversations
  • Manage your Google Calendar events via AI-powered chat
  • Use OpenAI's language models to process your requests
  • Store chat history and settings locally in your browser

The Service is provided "as is" and requires you to provide your own API keys for third-party services (OpenAI, Todoist) and authorize access to your Google Calendar.

⚠️ Important Notice: Google OAuth Verification

Task Chat is currently in test mode. When you connect your Google Calendar, you will see an "unverified app" warning from Google. This is expected and does not indicate any security issue.

Your data remains secure: Despite the warning message, your data is not collected or stored on our servers, as detailed in our Privacy Policy. You can safely proceed by clicking "Advanced" and then "Go to task-chat-web.vercel.app (unsafe)".

3. User Responsibilities

3.1 API Keys and Credentials

You are responsible for:

  • Obtaining and maintaining your own API keys from OpenAI and Todoist
  • Keeping your API keys secure and confidential
  • All costs associated with third-party API usage
  • Complying with the terms of service of all third-party providers (OpenAI, Todoist, Google)

3.2 Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its related systems
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
  • Use the Service to transmit malware, spam, or malicious code
  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations
  • Abuse or overload third-party APIs through excessive requests

3.3 Data Backup

Since all data is stored locally in your browser, you are responsible for backing up your chat history and settings. We recommend using the export features provided in the application.

4. Third-Party Services

Task Chat integrates with third-party services. Your use of these services is governed by their respective terms:

5. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND.

We make no warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to:

  • Warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
  • That the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
  • That defects will be corrected
  • The accuracy, reliability, or completeness of AI-generated responses
  • Compatibility with your browser or device

6. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

  • Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Loss of data, profits, or business opportunities
  • Costs incurred from third-party API usage (OpenAI, Todoist, Google)
  • Actions taken based on AI-generated responses
  • Unauthorized access to your locally stored data
  • Service interruptions or data loss from browser issues

You acknowledge that AI-generated responses may contain errors and should be verified before taking important actions.

7. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Task Chat, its contributors, and maintainers from any claims, damages, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.

8. Service Availability

We strive to keep the Service available but do not guarantee:

  • Continuous, uninterrupted access to the Service
  • That the Service will always be available or free
  • Advance notice of maintenance, updates, or discontinuation

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time without liability.

9. Privacy

10. Modifications to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting to this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. Simply close the application and clear your browser's localStorage if you wish to remove all local data. We may terminate or suspend access to the Service without prior notice if we believe you have violated these Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws applicable in your jurisdiction, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved through arbitration or in the courts of competent jurisdiction.

13. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

14. Entire Agreement

These Terms, along with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Task Chat regarding your use of the Service.
